La Bambouseraie near Anduze
In Générargues, at the gateway to the Cévennes and close to Anduze, La Bambouseraie is a refreshingly different nature outing for families, couples or friends. Created 170 years ago, this exceptional botanical garden is home to more than 1,300 varieties of bamboo, trees and remarkable plants, in a shady setting that is especially pleasant on hot summer days.
A journey among the bamboo
The visit takes you along broad avenues lined with giant bamboo, sometimes several metres tall, and reveals surprising exotic vegetation. Along the way you pass through the Japanese garden, the Laotian village, the historic greenhouses, the water gardens, the plant maze and other areas devoted to the plant world.
Allow at least two hours to make the most of the site, longer if you join a guided tour or stroll at your own pace. The ticket is valid all day, so you can visit without rushing and take a break at the snack bar, the shop or in the freely accessible areas.
A family visit
La Bambouseraie is very well suited to children: the walk is fun and shady, with varied scenery. A treasure trail is also available at extra cost to turn the visit into an adventure. Activities and events are held during the season, according to the park's calendar.
The site has free parking for visitors at the park entrance. You can also combine the visit with the Cévennes Steam Train, which links Anduze to Saint-Jean-du-Gard and stops at La Bambouseraie depending on the days and times of operation.
Opening hours and prices
In 2026, La Bambouseraie is open every day, including weekends and public holidays, from 28 February to 15 November. Opening hours vary with the season: opening at 9 am or 10 am depending on the period, closing between 5 pm and 7 pm. Last admission is one hour before closing; check the latest times before you set off.
The price is €15.50 for adults and €11.50 for children aged 4 to 12. A family ticket is available at 48,20 € for two adults and two children, or 54 € for two adults and three children. Entry is free for children under 4. A treasure trail can be added for €4.50.
Combine the visit with the Cévennes Steam Train
For an even more memorable day, pair La Bambouseraie with the Cévennes Steam Train. This 13 km tourist line links Anduze to Saint-Jean-du-Gard behind old steam locomotives, through the emblematic landscapes of the Cévennes. The train stops at La Bambouseraie station, so you can get off to visit the garden and catch a later train to continue your journey. As times vary with the season, remember to check them before you set off.
