A few minutes from the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes, the Salins de Camargue offer a spectacular landscape shaped by salt, wind and water. Among the salt pans, the canals and the vast pink expanses that appear depending on the season, the visit reveals an emblematic place of the Gard Camargue.
Immersed in the heart of the salt marshes
The easiest way to discover the site is to take the little Salins train. For about 1 hour 15 minutes, this guided tour crosses the salt landscapes and explains the stages of the salt harvest, the work of the salt makers and the natural riches of the area.
The route also takes you close to the famous “camelles”, those impressive mountains of salt. Some tours give access to a remarkable panoramic viewpoint over the basins, the ramparts of Aigues-Mortes and the vast landscapes of the Camargue. Flamingos, egrets and other birds can often be seen along the way.

Prices and booking
In 2026, the classic little train tour costs €14 per adult and €10 per child aged 5 to 13. A €44 family ticket is available for two adults and two children, while children aged 3 and 4 travel free. Departures and times vary with the season. It is advisable to book in advance on the online ticket office, especially during school holidays and in summer. Visitors should arrive about 15 minutes before departure.
